According to this article on Yahoo (from the AP), 4 people were in line at an Apple store in NYC this evening...and three of them began the line yesterday.
The debate in our office rages on: will the iPhone sink or sail? I'm a MAC addict, and feel very bullish on the phone, and considering that at least 4 people are waiting 4-5 days in a chair on a sidewalk to get one, it indicates that the demand is clearly there, and furthermore expectations of the phones being a hot commodity with potential for sellout is driving folks to line up already. Others around me (not naming names) think it is too expensive and not worth all the hype...I counter that some people have short memories. The original iPod cost as much and had FAR, FAR LESS to offer...and what is the iPod today?
I hope that the stores in Seattle are a little less crowded, and I can slip in on Friday evening to pick up my new toy...
Other iPhone News:
- Walt Massberg of the WSJ loves it - "Our verdict is that, despite some flaws and feature omissions, the iPhone is, on balance, a beautiful and breakthrough handheld computer," Mossberg said
- Some folks are sick of the hype - John Dvorak, of PC Magazine, claims that 'Hitler got less coverage when he invaded Poland' than then iPhone is getting. Pretty stong statement, and I hope the last time I see anything related to Hitler referenced. John, if you can't get on the bandwagon, I argue you should keep your trap shut. Go iPhone!
- Will the phone change the Rock World? - Or, since you cannot order music Over The Air, will it not make a dent in record sales?
