Dateline Seattle: no big line for iPhone; Business users in a bind

I did indeed purchase an 8GB iPhone this evening. Currently the phone is syncing and charging, should be all ready to roll in the morning. I will post a full review in the near future.

Three items to note:
  1. I had a hunch this morning: do not wait in line, there will be no shortage. I was right. It took me all of 10 minutes to get the phone! After contemplating an afternoon waiting in a line, I decided that playing tennis on a nice sunny afternoon was time better spent. So, I strolled down to as ATT store at the University Village shopping mall at 7:15pm, and there were folks there, but I waited maybe 5 minutes in line (in the store), and 5 minutes to make the purchase. Done. Wow, all the hype and that was it...glad I followed my hunch that there would be no shortage of phones in stock (though I lost my tennis match).
  2. My phone number was linked to an ATT business account, which meant it could not be used with the iPhone unless it was switched to a personal account. Funny that the man who sold me the phone didn't mention this, nor did I read amongst the MILLIONS of articles and posts on the phone about this ahead of time...huh. So, I had to switch my number to a personal plan, not a HUGE deal, but probably more costly! One last item on this: the REP on the phone told me that after the switch, it would take 24-48 hours for the phone info to be updated at Apple in order to then activate the phone. I was a bit disappointed to have to wait. However, that was not true, it worked right away!
  3. I saw numerous people walking around the mall I was at smiling with their iPhones in a bag. This particular mall has an Apple store and an ATT store. Grown people, mind you, who just spent $5-600 (like me) and smug looking faces all over the mall...Apple should be VERY happy today. VERY.
All in all, happy so far, albeit a wee bit annoyed about the business plan thing.
